Fatehgarh Sahib, March 25 2009: Punjab Deputy Chief Minister and president of Shiromani Akali Dal Sukhbir Singh Badal today said SAD-BJP alliance will counter the Dera Sacha Sauda impact in the coming Lok Sabha polls.
Talking to media persons after a rally to drum up support for party candidate Charanjit Singh Atwal for Fatehgarh Sahib reserved constituency, Badal said the state government has done a lot of development work during the last two years and has no threat from the Dera Sacha Sauda.
When asked about the delay in announcement of SAD candidate from Bathinda constituency, Sukhbir said the party nominee for the seat will soon be announced by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
He said it is clear that a member from the Badal family will contest from the seat. On Congress leaders Jagdish Tytler, Sajjan Kumar being given tickets to contest the polls, Sukhbir said the Congress has exposed itself by giving tickets to people responsible for the anti-Sikh riots.
When asked about the impact of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh's visit to Amritsar, Sukhbir said that the PM had come to pay obeisance so it will have no impact on the forthcoming Lok Sabha elections.
